One of the most appealing things about owning an electric vehicle is what you never have to do. No oil changes. No cambelt. No spark plugs. No exhaust repairs. The list of things an EV simply does not need is long and it translates directly into lower servicing bills.
What an EV does not need
No engine oil or filter. No spark plugs. No air filter. No cambelt or timing chain. No exhaust system. No fuel system servicing. No clutch.
On most EVs, no traditional multi-gear gearbox. Brake pads and discs last longer due to regenerative braking.
The result is annual servicing that takes less time, involves fewer parts, and costs around half what a comparable petrol car service would.
What an EV does need
A used EV with no service history is not automatically a problem but specific checks become more important.
The 12V battery should be tested. The battery health diagnostic should be requested.
The cabin filter should be replaced if history is unknown. The charging port should be inspected by a qualified technician, not just visually.
